Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Argentina on the third leg of his five-nation tour and was greeted with great enthusiasm by the Indian diaspora, who gathered to welcome him with chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Modi-Modi.”

As he arrived at his hotel in Buenos Aires, PM Modi was welcomed with a vibrant display of traditional Indian dance, reflecting the strong cultural ties shared by the Indian community abroad.

The Prime Minister took time to interact with community members, expressing appreciation for their continued connection to India and their role in strengthening bilateral relations.

Akhilesh Verma, a member of the Indian community in Argentina, shared his joy with ANI: “It was a very good feeling meeting PM Modi. We are very happy to see him here. We hope the commercial and cultural ties between India and Argentina grow stronger and bring prosperity to both nations.”

This visit is particularly historic, as it marks the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years, according to Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jaiswal wrote: “Celebrating the enduring friendship between our nations. PM Narendra Modi has landed in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Argentina on an official visit… marking a new chapter in India-Argentina ties.”

During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with President Javier Milei to review and enhance cooperation in key areas including defence, agriculture, mining, energy, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.

Argentina is the third stop on PM Modi’s tour, following Ghana and Trinidad & Tobago. He will next travel to Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit, before concluding his tour in Namibia.
